Woman’s death in luxury UK five-star hotel prompts murder investigation

A murder probe has been launched by police after a woman was found dead inside a luxury five-star UK hotel.

The body of a woman in her 50s was discovered at a hotel in Bagshot, Surrey. Officers were called to the Pennyhill Park Hotel at 8.43am on Sunday, April 14. Her family has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers, The Mirror reported.

A 60-year-old man from Devon has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. It is believed the victim and suspect were known to each other, Sussex Police said. An investigation from the force is now underway to establish how the woman died at the five-star hotel.

Police have not yet released the results of a Home Office pathologist’s post mortem examination. Neither the woman not the arrested man have yet been named.

A spokesman for Surrey Police said: “A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman at a hotel in Bagshot. Officers were called to the Pennyhill Park Hotel by South East Coast Ambulance Service following the discovery of the body of a woman aged in her 50s. Her family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

“A 60-year-old man from Devon has been arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody at this time. It is believed that the victim and suspect were known to each other. An investigation, led by Surrey Police and Sussex Police’s Major Crime Team, is underway to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death. These inquiries remain ongoing.”
