Trump trial jury ends first day without verdict

Jurors in Donald Trump’s hush money trial wrapped up their first day of deliberations on Wednesday without reaching a verdict. The jury of 12, along with six alternates, will reconvene on Thursday morning to continue discussing the evidence and testimonies presented over the five-week trial. This case is significant as Trump is the only U.S. president to face criminal charges.

The trial centers on allegations that Trump falsified business documents to conceal a $130,000 payment made just before the 2016 election to silence adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who claims they had a sexual encounter. Trump, who is 77, has pleaded not guilty and denies any affair with Daniels. Leaving the courtroom, Trump remained defiant, pumping his fist in the air and ignoring reporters’ questions. The timeline for the jury’s verdict remains uncertain.
