Meghan Markle and Prince Harry encounter delay at Heathrow due to British Airways pilot’s illness

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were left waiting at London Heathrow after the scheduled pilot for their British Airways flight to Nigeria fell ill.

BA had to scramble a replacement for the 11-hour trip, it is understood, which delayed Harry and Meghan’s journey. However, they finally touched down in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, at 5am the next day.

Meghan, 42, had flown to London alone to meet Harry for the next leg of his Invictus Games promotion tour. The couple were reunited at Heathrow’s VIP Windsor Suite and eventually made their way to Africa in the First Class section of a Boeing 777. Meghan and Harry were separated from other passengers by a curtain, it is believed.

When they touched down in Nigeria, fellow passengers were reportedly held back so the couple could be escorted off the aircraft. Harry and Meghan also exchanged smiles with cabin crew as they disembarked.

The couple were met at Abuja Nnamdi Azikiwe International by Nigerian officials. They were taken out of a side door onto the jetty and into a waiting blacked-out minibus. The couple were accompanied by the same security team that had accompanied Harry throughout his stay in London this week.

The Duke of Sussex returned to the UK this week to attend a special service at St Paul’s Cathedral in London to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.
