How Gaza hostage raid ended with Israel striking crowded streets

Details are emerging about Israel’s operation to rescue four citizens from Gaza. The Hamas-run Health Ministry reports 274 Palestinians killed and nearly 700 injured in the assault. Israeli special forces used surprise tactics to free female hostage Noa Argamani, while another team rescuing three male hostages faced heavy attack.

This prompted massive Israeli air strikes on crowded streets, killing scores of Palestinians. The operation, dubbed Seeds of Summer, was meticulously planned and approved by Israel’s war cabinet last Thursday. On Saturday morning, two Israeli special forces teams, some disguised as Palestinians, crossed into Gaza using trucks and civilian cars.
