American Airlines flight attendants say their pay is so low, they fight for airplane meals to save money and sleep in their cars

American Airlines and their flight attendants’ union will head to Washington for negotiations next week.

American Airlines flight attendants are expressing frustration over their low pay and difficult working conditions. According to the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, the workers have not received a raise since 2019 and are struggling to make ends meet. In response to the airline’s offer of a 17% pay increase, the union has argued that this is insufficient and has threatened to strike.

The flight attendants have reported having to fight for airplane meals to save money and even sleeping in their cars due to their low wages. They are demanding a 35% increase in pay along with a 6% annual increase, as well as improved sick leave and vacation pay.
