Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has officially endorsed Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, expressing gratitude for the former president’s decision to commute his prison sentence for fraud and racketeering charges. Kilpatrick’s endorsement was announced by the Trump campaign, along with the formation of a “Black Americans for Trump” coalition, as the former president aims to court Black voters.
In a statement released by the campaign, Kilpatrick praised Trump’s actions, saying, “I can never thank President Trump enough for what he’s done for me and my family by giving me freedom.” He further emphasized the personal significance of the upcoming election, stating, “I believe this election and the issues involved are personal to every family and every person in America.”
