Trump campaign reports nearly $53 million raised following conviction

In a remarkable fundraising surge, former President Donald Trump’s campaign reported raising nearly $53 million within 24 hours following his conviction by a New York jury. The campaign attributed this windfall to what they described as backlash against what they labeled a politically motivated trial orchestrated by “Crooked Joe Biden and his New York henchmen.” They highlighted the impressive rate of donations, amounting to more than $2 million per hour, signaling widespread support among Americans who view the trial as election interference.

Comparing this response to historical fundraising efforts, Mike Hahn of Frontline Strategies noted that ActBlue, the Democratic National Committee’s fundraising platform, raised $20.6 million the day the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Additionally, Lee Zeldin, a former Republican congressman, secured an $800,000 donation for Trump’s Joint Fundraising Committee. The Trump campaign also announced that $34.8 million of the total came from small-dollar donors, indicating a robust grassroots support base.
