Palestinians in the Israeli-occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem face a worsening human rights situation, alongside severe suffering in Gaza, U.N. human rights chief Volker Turk said Tuesday.
Addressing the U.N. Human Rights Council, Turk highlighted the deteriorating conditions, citing 528 Palestinians, including 133 children, killed by Israeli forces or settlers in the West Bank since October.
Concurrently, 23 Israelis have been killed in clashes or attacks by Palestinians. Turk condemned Israel’s strikes in Gaza, noting widespread destruction and humanitarian aid obstructions, and criticized the arbitrary detention of thousands of Palestinians.
