The Pentagon on Monday identified the three U.S. service members killed in a drone attack by Iran-backed militants at a secretive U.S. outpost in Jordan.
Sgt. William Jerome Rivers, 46, of Carrollton, Georgia.; Spc. Kennedy Ladon Sanders, 24, of Waycross, Georgia.; and Spc. Breonna Alexsondria Moffett, 23, of Savannah, Georgia were killed early Sunday when “a one-way unmanned aerial system” crashed into their container housing units, officials said.
All three were assigned to a U.S. Army Reserve unit based out of Fort Moore, Georgia.
“These three fallen heroes were deployed to Jordan in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and the international coalition working to ensure the lasting defeat of ISIS,” Deputy Pentagon Spokesperson Sabrina Singh said during a press briefing.
“These brave Americans and their families are in our prayers, and the entire Department of Defense mourns their loss.”
The Biden Administration has said “Iran-backed militias” were behind the attack on a U.S. base known as Tower 22, near the Syrian border.
