North Korea sends poop balloons to South Korea

The crap attack appears to be retaliation for balloons sent by South Korean activists to spread anti-Pyongyang leaflets.

South Korean authorities issued an emergency alert on Tuesday night, warning residents along the border with North Korea of an “air raid” that turned out to be more than 150 balloons carrying trash and suspected feces. The alert advised people to stay indoors and report any identified objects to military bases. This unusual incursion follows North Korea’s recent threat of retaliation against anti-Pyongyang leaflets sent by South Korean activists earlier this month.

The balloons, detected by South Korea’s military, carried various debris including plastic bottles, batteries, shoe parts, and feces. These were found in locations as far as South Gyeongsang province, over 180 miles from the demilitarized zone. South Korea’s military and police are now working together to collect and analyze the materials, advising residents to avoid contact and report any findings to authorities.
