Majority in Rasmussen poll predicts Trump guilty verdict

As former President Donald Trump’s trial in New York City nears its conclusion, a recent Rasmussen poll indicates that 53% of voters believe he will be found guilty by the jury. The trial centers on allegations that Trump falsified business records to hide reimbursements for payments made by his then-attorney, Michael Cohen, to adult film actress Stormy Daniels. The case has been widely followed, with 73% of voters closely monitoring developments, and has featured testimonies from key figures such as Daniels, tabloid executive David Pecker, and disbarred attorney Cohen. Notably, more Democrats than Republicans think a guilty verdict is likely, with 69% and 43%, respectively, expressing this view.

Public opinion on the trial is polarized, with 52% of voters agreeing with Trump’s claim that the prosecution is a “witch hunt,” including a significant portion of Republicans and a notable number of Democrats and unaffiliated voters. This sentiment is particularly strong among voters aged 65 and older. The likelihood of a guilty verdict also varies across demographics, with higher expectations among Biden’s supporters and voters in the highest income bracket. The Rasmussen survey, conducted with 1,092 likely voters, has a margin of error of ±3 percentage points, reflecting a divided and highly engaged electorate as the trial concludes.
