Hundreds of L.A. Employees Could Soon Be on Unpaid Leave over Vaccine Mandate Defiance

77 employees of the city of Los Angeles have been placed on unpaid leave for bucking its coronavirus vaccine mandate, and another 700 staff members could follow in the coming weeks.

“The good news is, overwhelmingly city employees have gotten vaccinated … and I want to be clear the vaccine mandate is not about getting rid of employees. My goal is to keep every employee and to keep every employee safe,” Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti said on Wednesday.
