A former senior policy adviser to President Barack Obama has been arrested and charged with child sex crimes in Great Britain, the Daily Mail reports.
Rahamim ‘Rami’ Shy, 46, of New Jersey, has been accused of arranging the commission of a child sex offense. He has also been charged with possession of indecent images of children and possessing a prohibited image of a child, court documents show.
Shy, who is a US citizen, was arrested in late February by Bedfordshire Police and is being held at the HMP Bedford prison. He appeared in Luton Crown Court via a weblink from prison on Friday and received the official charges.
Shy will remain in prison until his next court date in June. He was not asked to enter any plea during his recent court appearance, the outlet reports.
In addition to working with Democrat President Barack Obama, Shy also worked for the White House under former Democrat Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
