Media should call out Trump’s ‘endless horse crap’

Donald Trump wants to kill CNN and MSNBC. It’s time for the media to fight back: Menon, Jan. 17

Kudos to the brilliant columnist Vinay Menon who put Donald Trump’s “victory” in Iowa into perspective. Only 15 per cent of registered Republicans in that most conservative state bothered to vote. That is only 56,260 out of a total of 3.2 million voters in Iowa. Hopefully this trend continues.

Donald Trump is simply another in a long line of examples of why giving one person extraordinary power is a really bad idea. The last hundred years is filled with megalomaniacs and demagogues clamping down on dissenting voices. If you look at current examples, they are almost all the result of an elected president acting unilaterally. It’s harder for a prime minister to do the same, especially if they are the head of a coalition. They can’t just act. They need to convince their own government of the need for such measures. Most nations stripped their hereditary kings of executive power long ago. Too many think that handing that power to an elected king makes it OK.

Columnist Vinay Menon got it right. Donald Trump and his escapades should be ignored. He has nothing good to say about anyone except those that agree with him. We must all be tired of this man. He is toxic. What would you do if a friend badmouthed you repeatedly and brought you down? My response would be to stay clear of this individual and not engage in a discussion in which the individual refuses to listen…
