Biden tells black voters Trump wanted to tear gas them during George Floyd protests

President Biden rallied Black voters in Philadelphia on Wednesday, highlighting his administration’s efforts to improve their lives and criticizing former President Trump. Speaking at Girard College, a predominantly Black boarding school, Biden thanked Black voters for their crucial support in the 2020 election. He emphasized achievements like eliminating lead pipes, reducing pollution in marginalized communities, expanding affordable high-speed internet, and protecting the Affordable Health Care Act, framing these as “a promise made, and a promise kept.”

Biden also took aim at Trump, recalling his controversial actions during the George Floyd protests and the January 6 Capitol riot. He condemned Trump’s support for the January 6 rioters and questioned how Trump would have responded if Black Americans had stormed the Capitol. Biden reminded the audience of Trump’s desire to pardon the rioters and his previous use of tear gas against peaceful protestors, positioning himself as a stark contrast to Trump in his commitment to justice and equality.
