As the climbing season on Nepal’s Mount Everest draws to a close, at least three climbers are believed to have died, including Cheruiyot Kirui, a senior relationship manager at KCB Group. His body was discovered on the mountain, but recovery efforts are complicated due to the high altitude and low oxygen levels.
KCB Group confirmed Kirui’s death occurred while he was summiting Everest, either on Wednesday or Thursday.
Two other climbers, Daniel Paul Paterson of the U.K. and Pastenji Sherpa of Nepal, are feared dead after reaching the summit and descending on Tuesday, a joint post Thursday from the Instagram accounts for Everest guide Lakpa Sherpa and 8k Expeditions reported.
