American Airlines: Black men sue for racial discrimination after being ‘ordered off plane over body odour complaints’

Three black men are suing American Airlines for racial discrimination after being asked to leave a plane due to complaints about body odor. The incident, which occurred in January, involved a total of eight black passengers being ordered off the flight in Phoenix. According to the lawsuit filed on Wednesday, the men were targeted solely based on their race, as they did not know each other and were seated in different parts of the plane when a flight attendant raised the issue.

Despite being offered alternative flights, the men were eventually allowed to reboard the same plane to New York after about an hour, as no other flights were available that evening. Susan Huhta, the attorney representing the three men, criticized American Airlines’ handling of the situation, stating that removing eight black men from the plane based on an unverifiable complaint was inappropriate.
