A federal grand jury may soon hear from Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ accusers

Federal investigators are preparing to bring accusers of music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs before a federal grand jury, signaling that the US Justice Department is moving toward potentially seeking an indictment of Combs, sources tell CNN. Witnesses, including those who have filed civil lawsuits against Combs, have been notified that they could be called to testify in front of a federal grand jury in New York City, indicating a significant escalation in the investigation of the producer and Bad Boy Records founder.

Combs has been named in eight civil lawsuits since November, seven of which directly accuse him of sexual assault. A lawsuit filed by former girlfriend Cassie Ventura has been settled, while another accuses his son, Christian Combs, of sexual assault, with Sean Combs implicated in aiding and abetting.

A Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) spokesperson declined to comment on the existence of a grand jury, but confirmed the investigation is ongoing. Sources informed CNN that potential witnesses have not yet been prepped for testimony as HSI investigators continue to gather evidence and interview potential sources.

One source noted that investigators are being thorough to ensure any possible indictment is “bulletproof.” The use of a grand jury, comprising ordinary citizens, indicates that the case has moved beyond the preliminary assessment stage and is progressing towards determining whether criminal charges should be filed.
