Democratic leaders are preparing to introduce a discharge petition to push Ukraine funding onto the House floor, circumventing Speaker Mike Johnson’s reluctance. 

Representative Bill Pascrell announced the move, confident in having sufficient votes, urging Republican support. 

The Biden administration’s imposition of 500 sanctions on Russia follows the death of dissident Alexei Navalny and the arrest of an American ballerina who supported Ukraine. 

While the Senate passed a $95 billion aid package for Ukraine and other regions, Johnson insists on discussing border measures with President Biden before considering it. 

Republican leadership prioritizes fiscal year 2024 spending, delaying foreign aid decisions amid looming government funding deadlines. 

Representative Jim McGovern’s resolution offers a potential pathway to address Ukraine aid in the House.
