Karl Rove says Ronna McDaniel ‘in trouble’ over Trump’s Michigan call

THE HILL

Republican strategist Karl Rove claimed Republican National Committee (RNC) Chair Ronna McDaniel is “in trouble” over reported recordings of a phone call with former President Trump in November 2020.

In the alleged call, Trump reportedly pressured two Republican Wayne County canvassers to not sign the certification of the 2020 election, according to a report from the Detroit News on Thursday.

“I think the [chair] is in trouble here, because she’s saying to them, ‘If you agree to change your decision on certification in Wayne County, we’ll get your lawyers to stand by you,’” Rove said in an interview on Fox News highlighted by Mediaite on Friday. “And again, I think that was highly inappropriate.”

In the aforementioned recording, Trump argued “we’ve got to fight for our country,” according to the local outlet.

“We can’t let these people take our country away from us,” the former president said.

McDaniel added on the alleged call to the canvassers, “If you can go home tonight, do not sign it. … We will get you attorneys.”
