Trump’s election racketeering case is ‘over’ if Fani Willis steps down: ex-prosecutor

RAWSTORY

If Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis recuses herself from prosecuting former President Donald Trump, it could kill her Georgia election racketeering case, according to a former federal prosecutor.

CNN legal analyst Jennifer Rodgers explained Thursday the potential consequences of Willis — accused of having an improper relationship with special prosecutor Nathan Wade — removing herself from the Trump trial.

I think if she steps aside this is effectively over,” Rodgers said.

That’s because not only Willis, but Willis’ entire office would be recused, said Rodgers.

“There’s a commission that would then look to try to appoint another prosecutor’s office,” former federal prosecutor Jennifer Rodgers explained on CNN’s News Central.
