Poll: Over 25% of Gen Z identify as LGBTQ

Anew poll suggests that over a quarter of the youngest generation, Generation Z, now identify as some form of “LGBTQ,” appearing to confirm that the phenomenon is a social trend rather than one based in biology or actual science.

As reported by the

, the results of the poll, conducted by the Public Religion Research Institute, was released on Tuesday. With a focus on Gen Z, or “Zoomers,” who were born between 1997 and 2012, 28% of respondents said that they believe themselves to be LGBTQ. By contrast, only 16% of Millennials identify as such, compared to 7% of Gen X and just 4% of Baby Boomers.

When it comes to political leanings, 43% of Zoomers are more likely to identify as liberal. Along partisan lines, 31% identified as Democrats, 30% called themselves independent, and just 21% consider themselves Republicans. Currently, approximately one out of every six Zoomers is eligible to vote.

Gen Z is also far less likely to practice any sort of religion, with 33% of respondents declaring themselves to be non-religious. A previous poll in April of 2023 found that just 38% of Zoomers attend church services, with even many self-described religious Zoomers not attending on a weekly basis.

The survey was conducted between August 21st and September 15th, with a sample size of 6,014 Americans between the ages of 13 and 25. Among those between the ages of 13 and 17, the margin of error was 1.51%, while the margin of error for those between 18 and 25 was 1.58%.

The poll’s findings would suggest that Gen Z is much more heavily influenced by social media than any other generation, with most of the Big Tech companies heavily promoting far-left values, including the LGBTQ agenda and support for liberal causes. Unexpected Democratic victories in recent elections, including 2020 and 2022, has been attributed to high youth turnout from demographics such as Gen Z.

However, the poll also appears to confirm that the notion of homosexuality or any other non-heterosexual preference simply being a biological condition that people are born with is not true, due to the massive difference in the number of LGBTQ Zoomers compared to all other generations.
