Morning Joe’s audible groans revealed deep disgust with South Carolina Senator and former Presidential hopeful Tim Scott and what they clearly saw as his naked fealty to former President Donald Trump.
Scott represents the Palmetto State in the U.S. Senate only because then-former Governor Nikki Haleyappointed him to the seat. Despite that, Scott endorsed the 45th president in the Republican race for the nomination and was embarrassingly called out in Trump’s victory speech following his win in the New Hampshire primaryTuesday night.
“You must really HATE Nikki Haley,” Trump addressed Scott in his speech, to which the Senator took the dais and said, “I just really love you!” to which Trump replied, “That’s why he’s a great politician!”
Joe Scarborough? He is not impressed.
“And my God, who is Tim Scott!?” he asked rhetorically. And for dramatic effect, he asked again, “And who is Tim Scott?!”
It was at that point that Morning Joe viewers could hear a chorus of involuntary groans from co-hosts Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist.
“Yeah, that’s the guy that Nikki Haley appointed to the Senate,” Scarborough pointed out, adding, “He’s supporting a guy right now who defended Nazis in Charlottesville. He’s defending a that supports the replacement theory. He’s defending a guy and supporting a guy. Happily. Happily.
“He’s easily the most racist president in our lifetime,” Scarborough continued. “It just goes without saying. He’s inspired racism across his country. Just — all you have to do is go on social media and see what his supporters are saying.”
Senator Scott stood just behind Trump throughout his vengeful and insulting victory speech and could be seen awkwardly laughing and smiling…
