‘I found out I’d been dating my cousin for six months — then I married him’

DAILY STAR

A woman has claimed she discovered the guy she’d been dating for six months was actually her cousin — but still went on to marry him anyway.

Makenna Hagemeyer, who grew up in Utah and now lives in Florida, was dubbed “nasty” after making the confession in a now-viral TikTok video. The 21-year-old content creator could be seen grinning as she wrapped her arm around her husband Eli Hagemeyer, 25, and gave him a kiss in the clip.

Over the video, she wrote: “Finding out we are actually cousins six months into our relationship and still getting married.” She set the clip to the sound of Lynyrd Skynyrd’s Sweet Home Alabama and captioned the post: “Just Utah things”.

The video, which has been viewed 1.4million times, was the second clip Makenna posted that day about her relation to her husband and viewers were left horrified. “Damnnn that is nasty,” one person commented.

Another said: “Oof, girl isn’t even a tinyyyyy bit weirded out. It’s not the flex you think it is, girl.” A third wrote: “Love my cousins too… but they’re a line you REALLY shouldn’t cross.”

Some were shocked she’d even decided to make the confession as they claimed she should have kept it a secret. “The fbi themselves would never get this out of me,” one person wrote.

Another agreed, adding: “Girl…. You could not torture this information from me.” While a third viewer said: “I’m BEGGING y’all to pls bring back secrets.”

Others weren’t too surprised by the revelation as they claimed to have spotted a family resemblance between the couple. “The more i look at the video the more yall look alike lmao,” one person noted.

A second said: “If this is a joke that’s crazy bc y’all actually look alike.” Some also speculated the bizarre romance might not be as bad as it initially seemed.

One person wrote: “They are probably distant cousins, like 3rd cousins….hopefully.” Another commented: “Guys chill they’re probably like 4th or 5th cousins.”
