The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed on Saturday that a high-profile Hamas terrorist, Ayman Ghatma, was killed in an airstrike in Lebanon’s Bekaa district. According to Israeli media, Ghatma was traveling in a car near the town of Khiara, approximately 25 miles from the Israeli border, when the drone strike occurred.
Lebanese media captured images of the charred wreckage of the vehicle still engulfed in flames. The IDF stated that Ghatma was responsible for supplying weapons to Hamas and al Jama’a al-Islamiyya, an Egyptian terrorist group, in Lebanon. He had been targeted for his role in advancing attacks against Israel.
In a separate incident, at least 42 people were killed in Israeli strikes on districts of Gaza City in the north of the Palestinian enclave on Saturday. The director of the Hamas-run government media office stated that the Gaza strikes were also aimed at assassinating a senior Hamas leader.
