US lawmakers seek release of Binance chief

Two U.S. lawmakers, French Hill and Chrissy Houlahan, have expressed alarm over the imprisonment of Binance executive Tigran Gambaryan in Nigeria. Gambaryan is detained on charges of tax evasion and other financial crimes, but is reportedly suffering from malaria, double pneumonia, and is being denied adequate medical attention.

The lawmakers visited Gambaryan at Kuje prison, where they described the conditions as “horrible”. They called for his immediate release, emphasising the urgency of the situation, and highlighting the need for U.S. intervention.
