House GOP could rename coastal waters to the ‘Donald John Trump Exclusive Economic Zone of the United States’
A House Republican, Florida Representative Greg Steube, has introduced a bill to rename the US Exclusive Economic Zone after former President Donald Trump.
The proposed name change would affect an area spanning 4.3 million nautical miles, extending 200 nautical miles from the US territorial sea baseline.
During his presidency, Trump rolled back nearly 100 environmental rules related to clean water, air, and wildlife, and dismissed climate change as a “hoax”.
Trump’s 2024 campaign is centered around an oil production slogan, “drill baby drill”, backed by the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025.
