Biden to attend fundraiser with Obama, George Clooney, Julia Roberts

President Joe Biden’s Air Force One touched down in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday morning ahead of a star-studded evening fundraiser — and the anticipated proceeds have already reportedly broken the Democratic Party’s one-night record.

Former President Barack Obama, actors George Clooney and Julia Roberts and comedian Jimmy Kimmel will rally support for Biden at the Peacock Theater downtown, four months after Biden headlined a fundraising event at the private Beverly Hills home of an Israeli-American businessman.

Saturday’s glitzy Hollywood fundraiser has already netted the Biden campaign a record $28 million, a spokesperson told multiple outlets.

The sum tops the $26 million the campaign raised at a March event featuring late-night host Stephen Colbert and former Presidents Obama and Bill Clinton.

Former President Donald Trump’s campaign says it has raked in even larger amounts, most notably claiming a record $50 million haul from a gathering of wealthy donors in Florida back in April. Trump’s campaign saw a fundraising bump after his New York felony conviction late last month, leading to what the campaign said was a total of $141 million raised in May. Trump also swung through multiple fundraisers in California over the last week.

The result is that Biden’s fundraising lead over Trump has been narrowing.

But the Los Angeles fundraiser is expected to provide a boost to the Democrats, as Kimmel is set to interview Biden and Obama onstage.

Tickets range in price from $250 to a whopping $500,000, according to The Los Angeles Times.
