Vladimir Putin is eyeing up his next targets in a ‘Hitler-style’ invasion, warns Latvian President Edgars Rinkēvičs.
The Russian dictator has been accused of wanting to restore the country’s Soviet empire back to its former glory, even if it means infiltrating more countries like Moldova, Armenia, Georgia, and even Kazakhstan. “If Russia feels it has won in Ukraine, the temptation will be for it to continue,” Rinkēvičs said, according to reports. “If it feels it was defeated, the desire will be for revenge.”
Speaking at the Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) headquarters, the Latvian leader argued Putin’s plans to land-grab could potentially threaten Europe for “years if not decades to come”. He hammered home Moscow’s escalation to remove border markers in the Baltic region and said his country needed to “be prepared for all types of scenarios”.
While Rinkēvičs did rule out an imminent invasion due to the protection of NATO, the politician slammed Western leaders for dishing out vague commitments to help Ukraine.
