Covid vaccines may partly explain the rise in excess deaths since the pandemic, according to Dutch researchers.
Analyzing data from 47 Western countries, they found over three million excess deaths since 2020, persisting despite vaccine rollouts and containment measures. The scientists from Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, highlighted “serious concerns” and urged governments to investigate potential vaccine harms.
Published in BMJ Public Health, they noted that both professionals and citizens have reported significant injuries and deaths post-vaccination. They emphasized that, just as Covid-19 deaths were prioritized during the pandemic, potential vaccine-related deaths should be equally scrutinized.
