Ukraine has said paperwork has been signed that would allow French instructors to train Kyiv’s soldiers.
Russia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov stated that any French military instructors sent to Ukraine would be considered “legitimate targets” for Russian armed forces.
Lavrov made the remarks during a joint news conference with the Republic of the Congo’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean Claude Gakosso.
Ukraine’s top commander recently announced plans to allow French military instructors access to Ukrainian training centers, prompting Lavrov’s response.
French President Emmanuel Macron refrained from commenting on the situation, stating that he would address France’s support during upcoming events marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day, where he will meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
