Ukrainian president thanks US for permission to strike inside Russian territory with American munitions, but says it did not go far enough
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has criticized US President Joe Biden for not fully lifting restrictions on the use of American weapons in Ukraine’s defense against Russia.
Zelensky expressed gratitude for the permission to use American munitions within Russian territory but insisted that restrictions on long-range Atacms systems should also be removed.
Zelensky highlighted the issue of Russian airfields launching attacks on Ukraine without fear of retaliation, as Ukraine lacks the necessary systems and permissions to respond effectively.
Despite Biden allowing the use of missiles like Himars across the border, Zelensky is pressing for authorization to target Russian military airfields, which are used for daily attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure.
