Trump signals that he expects a conviction…

Amidst the commencement of deliberations in his election interference and hush-money trial, former President Donald Trump voiced a grim anticipation of conviction. Outside the New York courtroom, Trump expressed doubt, asserting, “Mother Teresa could not beat these charges,” emphasizing his belief in a rigged judicial process. He lamented the state of the nation, citing issues with borders and alleged election fraud, while accusing the judge of being too conflicted to ensure a fair trial. Despite his pessimistic tone, Trump maintained a semblance of hope, stating, “It’s a very disgraceful situation,” as he awaited the jury’s decision.

The historic deliberations unfolded following intense closing arguments, with prosecutor Joshua Steinglass accusing Trump of deliberate deception and participation in a “catch-and-kill” scheme aimed at suppressing damaging stories during his 2016 presidential campaign. Steinglass painted a picture of Trump’s alleged cavalier attitude towards concealing payoffs, suggesting a meticulous effort to avoid leaving a paper trail.
