An Italian priest has been sentenced to six and a half years in prison for sexually abusing children. The court of first instance found Don Emanuele Tempesta, a 32-year-old former assistant parish priest at Busto Garolfo near Milan, guilty of assaulting over 20 children over several years. The verdict was delivered on Tuesday following a thorough investigation into the allegations.
Prosecutors had initially sought an 11-year prison term for Tempesta, reflecting the severity of the crimes committed. However, the court ultimately handed down a six and a half year sentence.
