Maryland’s Democratic Senate frontrunner, Rep. David Trone, sparked controversy after inadvertently using a racial slur during a House meeting, though he claimed he intended to say ‘bugaboo.’
Addressing a colleague, Trone stated, ‘So this Republican ji***** that it’s the tax rate that’s stopping business investment, it’s just completely faulty by people who have never run a business.’
Following the incident, Trone issued an apology, attributing the remark to a slip of the tongue.
He stated to Fox News Digital, ‘Today while attempting to use the word ‘bugaboo’ in a hearing, I used a phrase that is offensive.’
