A woman has left social media users baffled after she claimed to have spotted her late husband in a new promotional video for a local Indian restaurant – despite him passing away nine years ago.

Spice Cottage, a restaurant in the village of Westbourne, West Sussex, posted a video to its Facebook page last week which showed tables packed with diners enjoying their favourite dishes.

But in the comments of the video, one flabbergasted woman asked when the footage was filmed because she claimed to have spotted her late husband and his son among the diners, even though he died in 2014.

The video was posted to the Spice Cottage Facebook page on January 16, alongside the caption: “New year, new mood! For the last few weeks, we’ve been working hard to make our dining experience even more memorable.

“Join us for a perfect blend of exquisite flavours, with classical and unique dishes inspired by ancient family recipes.”

And in the comments, a woman named Lucy Watson asked: “How old is the footage? My late husband and his son are on the first shot and he died in 2014??”

While it wouldn’t be impossible for the restaurant to have used old footage for their promotional video, the owners of the establishment insisted the video had been filmed earlier in the month, and wasn’t nine years old.
