An Afghan asylum seeker today convicted of murdering an aspiring marine has been unmasked as a killer of two other people in Serbia who then fled to the UK claiming he was a 14-year-old schoolboy.
Lawangeen Abdulrahimzai, 21, murdered Thomas Roberts, 21, in Bournemouth during an argument sparked by an e-scooter in Bournemouth town centre in March 2021.
Abdulrahimzai had hoodwinked Border Force and the Home Office after arriving in Poole as a passenger on a Brittany Ferries service, from Cherbourg in France on Boxing Day 2019, telling authorities he was 14.
At Salisbury Crown Court today the jury found him guilty of killing Mr Roberts – and the killer’s full life of crime was made public.
Abdulrahimzai had already been sentenced to a 20-year prison sentence in his absence after the killing in Serbia. But he fled, making his way to the UK where he became a street fighter who attacked his foster mother and boasted about his love of knives on TikTok.
Officials were completely unaware of Abdulrahimzai’s previous convictions – carried out under the alias ‘Huan Yasin’ – until police started investigating Mr Roberts’ murder…
